Commercial | Spartans Name New Shirt Sponsor

Blyth Spartans will once again be promoting the Community Foundation – Tyne & Wear and Northumberland – as it’s main shirt sponsor for the 2018/19 Vanarama National League North season. After discussions with a number of potential sponsors, Chairman Tony Platten decided that he would once again promote a charitable organisation that does wonderful work for the community across the North East.

The Community Foundation is part of a world-wide network of organisations and – because of the generosity of North East based philanthropists – is actually the biggest in Europe. It has more than £80m under investment and has set new ambitious targets to give more than £10m to local charities each year by the year 2025.

A new scheme – The Giving Network – has been developed to encourage younger professionals to start philanthropic, giving and details can be found at their web site

Chairman Tony Platten commented “I have worked personally with the Foundation since selling my business five years ago and know the wide range of charities across Tyne & Wear and Northumberland that have benefited from the generosity of North East philanthropists. North East people have a very close affinity to the area and I am always amazed at what they contribute to the well-being of the region. The last time I supported the foundation we reached the third round of the FA Cup so let’s hope this is a good omen for the coming season.”
