Everyone at Blyth Spartans were delighted to find out that season ticket holder Callum Brown will travel to St Louis, USA on Tuesday 22nd January 2013 to have a life changing operation. The operation, known as selective dorsal rhizotomy, will help him walk unaided for the first time in his life.

Callum, as you may remember was mascot for the home fixture against Hednesford Town back in September. On that day Spartans fans helped raise over £300.00 towards the fund to enable him to travel to St Louis for the operation and to help with rehabilitation costs upon his return.

Since that day Callum was awarded an honorary season ticket(which he is being presented with by Spartans midfielder Neal Hooks along with Callum’s Dad Neil above) for the 2012/13 season and has become a regular face and more importantly voice on the Croft Park terraces.

Spartans General Manager Ian Evans said “We are over the moon to have learnt that Callum is off to the States in January for his operation. It goes without saying that the players, officials and supporters of Blyth Spartans wish him every success and that we are looking forward in welcoming him back in the New Year at the first home game he is able to attend”.

Everyone connected with club will echo those thoughts.
