Charity sponsor deal for Spartans keepers

Spartans keepers Conor Grant and Matty Hunter are wearing new training kit thanks to a sponsorship deal with the charity Breathtakers. Once the deal was in place Goalkeeper Coach Carl King was able to provide the two stoppers with brand new training kit and new gloves. The charity supports families who are affected by the rare condition Obliterative Bronchiolitis.

King was appreciative of the deal and spoke of his delight that a charity would be able to raise awareness of themselves at the same time. He said “The sponsorship gives us the chance to buy training wear and goalkeeper gloves for our keepers at Blyth Spartans. We want them to have the best equipment available to help them in their progression and improvement over the forthcoming season. Wearing top quality gloves & training wear is imperative if they are to achieve all that they want to as young goalkeepers. It’s also fantastic that a charity that may not be as well known and a condition that certainly isn’t will be able to gain more awareness through our lads wearing their logo.”

Breathtakers’ North East representative Joanne Cameron commented “Blyth Spartans are a club steeped in history and tradition, they are one of the most famous non league clubs in the country and I am delighted that the Breathtakers logo will be on the goalkeepers training kit. We chose the goalkeepers because my own son Adam was a very good goalkeeper so it seemed the natural choice. Adam suffers from the condition Obliterative Bronchiolitis which is what Breathtakers is all about so on a personal level I am delighted to have the charity logo on Conor, Matty and Carl’s kits.”

Breathtakers are the only UK registered charity ‘specifically’ supporting Obliterative Bronchiolitis and our aim is to support families affected by this rare disease, raise awareness with doctors and other professionals and support initiatives, which will benefit OB sufferers. Obliterative Bronchiolitis (OB) is a rare and life limiting form of non-reversible obstructive lung disease that occurs in children and adults after injury to the lower respiratory tract.
