Spartans U9s at the NFA Charter Standard Super Festival

Sunday 3rd May, saw the U9s at Corbridge playing in the NFA Charter Standard Super Festival. This was a “non-competitive” tournament with prizes given to teams based upon fair play and the support of the FA Respect campaign.  Although scores were not kept and results did not count, in the round robin matches we won five matches  and drew our sixth.  However, in an extra match that was added as the festival…

Spartans U9s 0 Howden Rockets 2

This was always going to be Spartans’ hardest game of the season and a win would guarantee us second place in the league.  However, we were put under pressure from the start against a very skilfull Howden Rockets side.  Despite the pressure and some good chances from Howden, Spartans had a few chances too.  However, half time saw deadlock at 0-0.  Spartans started the second half the stronger side and took…

He had plenty of space and time to turn and…

We were the team putting a lot of pressure on the Forest…

Spartans U9s 4 KYPC Panthers 1 – Match Report

This turned out to be a very tough game against an opposition who had improved since our last meeting.  The game started with both sides having fairly even possession, but it was Spartans who opened the scoring.  Joe Todd took a corner from the right and a Panther defender was unlucky to knock it into his own net at the near post.  This allowed Spartans to settle a little bit…
