The club can announce that midfielder Martin Brittain has been released. The former Newcastle United winger, signed last month, made only three appearances for Blyth. The club would like to wish him all the best in his future career.

Manager leaves – latest

Spartans Chairman Tony Platten has, this morning, talked to Coach Paddy Atkinson and club Captain Wayne Buchanan about the dismissal of manager Tommy Cassidy. Further conversations will be held with them tonight at training, which will go ahead as planned. Mr Platten assured supporters that every effort will be made to keep them up to date with any developments and that further statements will be issued in due course.

Manager Dismissed at Blyth

After a meeting of the Executive Committee of the Club on Monday evening it was unanimously decided to terminate the contract of manager Tommy Cassidy. Mr Cassidy was informed of this decision at the Club on Tuesday morning. The Club would like to thank Mr Cassidy for his work whilst at the Club
