Theres’s only two days to go until the launch of Spartans supporter Ken Sproat’s comprehensive history of the club “We’re the famous Blyth Spartans”.
Hosted by Spartans Senior Press Officer Mark Carruthers there will be some very familar faces on the night. Ken himself will be discussing just what it took to put the book together and will discuss the many interesting stories he has unearthed. He will also take part in an Q and A with the audience.
Spartans players past and present have been invited, as well as current manager Tom Wade. They will talk about their time at the club and their favourite memories at the Croft Park.
Copies of the “We’re the famous Blyth Spartans” book will be available to buy on the night. Chronicling the entire history of the club from it’s formation right the way through to the FA Cup run in 2009 Sproat have covered every major event over the past century. FA Cup runs and giantkillings, league wins, trophy wins and a whole host of quirky stories are all included.
The event will take place at the Spartans Social Club on Thursday night with the doors opening at 7pm. Members of the local press have been invited and the event is open to everyone. Entry is free and the club urges all our supporters to get behind the book and attend the launch night on Thursday.
Carruthers said “I know having spoken to Ken just how much effort he has put into the book. He himself has said it is a real labour of love and it’s an essential purchase for any Spartans fan or non-league supporters in general. Thursday is a great chance for Ken to really showcase the book and for Spartans supporters to get right behind him, he deserves every piece of credit he will get and I’m honoured to be hosting the night to help him do that”
