MATCH PREVIEW:

Two days after seeing Boston secure a play-off place, Blyth come up against another side in the hunt for promotion in their last home game of the season. Blyth are now playing purely for pride and will be hoping to restore some of that after a 5-0 defeat at Boston at the weekend.

Guiseley also confirmed their play-off place on Saturday, after a 2-0 win over Gainsborough. With Eastwood Town’s appeal to take part in the play-offs being rejected by the Football Conference, the league’s governing body; it means even if Eastwood pip them to fifth, Guiseley would still be the ones to qualify.

The top league scorers for Spartans and Guiseley – Paul Brayson and James Walshaw respectively – both have 23 goals and, with Alfreton Town’s Liam Hearn (28) set to be the league’s top scorer, either could potentially stamp a claim on second place outright by getting on the score sheet when they meet on Monday.

IN THE OPPOSING DUGOUT:

Steve Kittrick

Appointed manager in December 2007, Kittrick oversaw last season’s promotion from the Northern Premier as Champions. With a chance of a second successive promotion, he will be telling his players to go all out for the rest of the season to give them a chance to achieve it.

DANGER MAN:

James Walshaw

Walshaw has had a fantastic first season in the Blue Square North. The former Ossett Town, Wakefield and Farsley Celtic striker has 23 goals for the season, with his form also leading to a call up for the England ‘C’ team back in February.

MATCH FACTS:

Blyth Spartans:
– Paul Brayson is two goals away from reaching 25 league goals this season.
– If Blyth take all three points, they will have won half of their home games this season, having also drawn four and lost six.
– Spartans have conceded 15 goals in their last six games

Guiseley:
– Have the second best away record in the league, taking 39 points in 19 games on their travels.
– Are unbeaten in their last five games – winning four and drawing one.
– Their only two away losses this season were inflicted by league champions Alfreton and second-placed AFC Telford.
