Blyth Spartans 3 AFC Telford United 0 (Manager’s Reaction)

Blyth Spartans’ manager Mick Tait praised his team for remaining cool under pressure in the opening stages of Tuesday night’s game against Telford United.

Tait believes that the composure shown from his players, despite the initial onslaught from the visiting side was crucial in producing an excellent home win.

“We could easily have gone a goal or two down. They were passing the ball better and creating more chances but we managed to keep our frustrations in check and not make too many mistakes.

“Although I could tell some of our lads were getting a bit agitated with the pressure we were under, we managed to keep our heads and I thought that was a very mature response.

Tait added: “I could tell the crowd were getting anxious because it was all Telford for the first part of the game, right up until we scored.”

Paul BraysonPaul Brayson (pictured right) opened the scoring after 26 minutes and this changed the complexion of the game and it was soon Telford’s turn to worry about the threat posed by the hosts.

Tait said: “We began to dominate in the midfield and they changed it around by putting three men in the centre against our two.

“We were very good in the second half and kept our discipline well. Even when we were three up it would have been easy for us to switch off and lose our shape but we didn’t do that.”
