Arrival | Curtis Round signs for Spartans

Blyth Spartans are pleased to announce the signing of Curtis Round from Marske United FC for an undisclosed fee, until the end of the 2023/24 season.

27-year-old Round joins Spartans after having spent six seasons with the Seasiders, he is a pacey winger or wingback who is confident in front of goal, the 2018/19 season saw him score 18 goals in 33 games.

Round’s career so far has seen him feature for Redcar Town, Guisborough Town, Whitby Town before joining Marske in the 2016/17 campaign. He has made over 200 appearances for the Seasiders scoring 53 goals during that time.

On his arrival at the club, Round said, ““I’m delighted to be here, after speaking to the Gaffer I was really impressed with the things he was saying, how they like to play and what the ambitions were.

It seemed like a genuine fit, I’ve always wanted to play at a higher level and I’m more than ready for the challenge.”

Graham Fenton was delighted to have secured the signing, “Curtis has impressed me everytime I’ve seen him play. I’ve admired him since I first seen him a couple of years ago and we are delighted to have him, he’s a versatile wide player that can fill in many positions, so he’s great to have.”

The transfer has been funded by 1899 Club memberships, with Chairman Tony Platten keen to thank all members. “I would like to express my thanks to all supporters who have donated to the 1899 Club – particularly in such challenging times.

The 1899 Fund is a vital source of income to help strengthen the squad and we’re delighted we’ve been able to use it to bring a player of the calibre of Curtis into the club.”
