Arrival | Spartans sign former England Youth International Laing

Blyth Spartans have tonight completed the registration of former Hartlepool United defender Louis Laing.

Laing, 25, will go straight into the squad to face York City in the Emirates FA Cup fourth qualifying round.

Born in Newcastle Upon Tyne, Laing grew up supporting the Magpies but came through the Sunderland Academy, making his Sunderland debut under then manager Steve Bruce.

Between 2014 and 2017 Laing played for a number of clubs in the English Football League and across the border in Scotland.

He spent last season with Manarama National League side Hartlepool United, but was released earlier this week and has been quickly snapped up by Alun Armstrong.
