Arrival | Lambert signs on loan from Scunthorpe

Blyth Spartans are pleased to announce the arrival of Jack Lambert from Scunthorpe United on an initial loan deal until the end of the February.

The attacking midfielder joins Spartans in time to feature in tomorrow’s clash with National League North leaders King’s Lynn Town.

Lambert, 20, started his career at Middlesbrough before moving north of the border to join then-Scottish Premiership side Dundee in 2017.

His senior debut soon followed in the December at Celtic Park against Celtic. In his two years in Scotland, Lambert clocked up seven first-team appearances.

At the beginning of the season, Lambert was snapped up by League Two side Scunthorpe, however, suffered bad luck by suffering a very early injury.

Upon his recovery, this prompted a reunion with his old Boro coach Alun Armstrong at Darlington in November and impressed during his two-month spell with the Quakers.

Spartans fans may recognise his name already after the attacker featured in Blyth’s 2-0 defeat to Darlington at Croft Park last month.

In total, he appeared 10 times for the Quakers and scored two goals – both coming in FA Trophy wins over Gainsborough Trinity and Solihull Moors.

Manager Lee Clark said: “Jack Lambert, we believe, from a deeper role, can help him score goals so we’re excited by that addition. Jordan (Summerly) covers the left side, so he gives us that flexibility and versatility.

“Ben Harmison is a different type of striker – he is a target man and is a player players can play off. He can hold the ball up and we can make runs off him. He’ll be a threat in both boxes.”
