Arrival | Cameron Painter joins Spartans

Blyth Spartans AFC is pleased to announce the signing of Cameron Painter.

Painter, a young midfielder from Hartlepool, arrives at Croft Park having spent two years at Grimsby Town in the Football League.

Last season, the 19-year-old was loaned to Northern Premier League South East side Spalding United before the Covid-19 pandemic brought it to a premature end.

He becomes Michael Nelson’s 15th signing of the summer as preparations continue for the 2021/22 National League North campaign.

On signing, Painter said: “I’m absolutely delighted to finally get it done.

“It’s a big club. I just want to show what I can do, please the fans, win games and maybe push for promotion.”

Nelson added: “Cameron is someone who has been training with us for a while now.

“He came in during the suspension of the season and we’ve had a chance to see him in several training sessions and practice matches.

“He’s a central midfielder who can also cover at right back, which will give us options throughout the season.

“He is very competitive, energetic and also comfortable on the ball.”

You can watch Cameron’s first interview as a Blyth Spartans player here via BSAFCTV.
