A busy day of transfer dealings at Croft Park has seen four new faces arrive, with one of last year’s players leaving and another made available for transfer.
Manager Steve Cuggy commented “We have decided to let John Alexander move on and he has signed for another club, he is a smashing lad and his attitude has been first class and he was really keen to stay. but I’ve had a chat with him and told him that I could make him no promises.”
“We agreed that it was probably best for his career that he moved on. He leaves on the very best of terms and me, Gav and everyone connected with the club certainly wish him all the best in his career .”
“We have also decided to make Jake Cunningham available to other clubs, as he needs to playing games. He is another who has a very professional mentality, but we just felt that he wouldn’t get the games at Blyth and that will not help his career.”
Incoming to Croft Park are striker Lee Mason and defenders Michael Pearson, Richie Slaughter and Dylan Purvis – All four featured in Saturday’s win over Partick Thistle.
Lee Mason
Lee is a 20-year-old, hard working striker, hailing from Seaton Sluice, who started his career at Hartlepool United and has since played in Sweden and for Whitley Bay.
Michael Pearson
Michael is a 19-year-old right back, who was released by Hartlepool United in the summer.
Richie Slaughter
Richie has previously been with Blyth featuring on the bench on a few occasions under Mick Tait, but never featuring in the first team. He is a former Consett and Tow Law Town player and has also played for Central Connecticut State University in the USA.
Dylan Purvis
Dylan is a tough tackling right back who was also released by Hartlepool United in the summer.
Cuggy commented “The new lads have been training with us since we started back and all impressed in the first pre-season game against Partick. We will be having a better look at them over the remainder of pre-season. I have made no promises to any of the lads, so it is up to them to fight for a place in the squad.”
“They have all shown good attitudes, they are all talented players and are young, hungry lads, so hopefully they will seize the opportunity and thrive at Croft Park.”
