An Early Christmas Present for the Spartans!

Blyth Spartans are delighted to welcome back least season’s Player of the Year Richard Pell, who has signed from Blue Square North side Alfreton Town for an undisclosed amount.

Terms have been agreed with the player and with Alfreton Town and we are now just waiting for the final confimation from the Conference.

Newish signing Richard Pell tackles Jason Roberts

The 27 year old centre back drew worldwide acclaim for his performances in last season’s FA Cup run and it is hoped that Richard will provide some much needed height and strength to the Spartans rear-guard.

Chairman Tony Platten commented that –
“It was a great disappointment to lose Richard at the start of the season due to his full time work relocation to Lincolnshire.

We are delighted that, due to him securing a new job in Newcastle, we have been able negotiate a mutually acceptable arrangement with Richard and Alfreton to once again secure his services for Blyth”

“Richard delivered outstanding performances throughout the 2008/09 season particularly in the memorable FA Cup run.”

“Manager Mick Tait did an outstanding job negotiating the deal and I am sure that supporters will give him a rousing welcome back to the Club”

Welcome back Pelly!
