Tom talks – after the Farsley game

Spartans manager Tom Wade thought his side deserved victory by two goals to nil in the FA Trophy tie at Farsley on Saturday.

“The first half was tight but we looked the better team after the break,” he said. “We were comfortable and did enough to win. I guess we played within ourselves a bit but still created many chances. Farsley did too but you would expect the home side to press on, especially in a cup game.

“We made a few changes in our line up but still looked strong. With players like Robbie Dale and Stephen Turnbull missing one or two of the other players had to stand up and be counted which they did.”

Games are coming thick and fast for Blyth.

Wade said: “It’s great to be having success in the Trophy and the FA Cup but it is giving us a few headaches in terms of the numbers of games. This week we will be planning for Sunday’s FA Cup game against Altrincham at Croft Park. We have two training sessions planned where we will keep the lads ticking over. They have the fitness in their legs now.”

Sunday’s game is pay at the gate and kicks off at 2.00pm.
